“Scheiss Leben, alles Scheisse…”

That is the first phrase I learned when I moved to Germany, and in Nuremberg it’s usually the first thing a German will say to me the first time we meet. It’s an insane outlook on life, not to mention just plain sad.

I’ve been living Nuremberg for nearly 5 years now, and am ready to move on and go back to the greatest country in the world. If you don’t believe me just ask a German. Most people in Nuremberg tend to trash talk their own country within the first 5 minutes of meeting me, which leads to an awkward conversation where I point out how nice this place, just weird. Usually I get ask why I would ever want to live here instead of the States, and get to watch a stranger kick the air when talking about their own country. I’m tired of telling people to take pride in their own nationality and don’t want to raise my kids in a society that seems to have this general mindset.

So, hopefully in the next few months we will be moving on in life.
